Season in progress:
The use of cellular phones during the classes is not permitted.
If a student is absent from more than 5 classes without a valid doctor's note during the class season, they will not be allowed to participate in the June show. Choreography is teamwork and requires all students to be successful.
Each family's tuition will be adjusted $25 a month for 10 months to reflect a "recital fee." This “recital fee” - as it is known in all studios - will go to cover our auditorium rental and other recital costs. At the end of the 10 month season, each family will have purchased 10 performance tickets to our June 2016 festival to distribute or resell as they see fit. As we do not require our students to purchase expensive costumes or other items for our June festival, we thank you in advance for your understanding with regards to this new policy and appreciate your cooperation.
Punctuality in the class schedule is key to a dancer's discipline. We will start classes at the exact time and end them at the exact time. To the parents of children: when we finish the class you need to already be there to pick up your child. Every 5 minutes extra time that we have to stay with the child will cost $20 additional fee.
No refunds after first class is taken.
Our season is a 10 month commitment beginning in September and ending in June with the end of season festival taking place in June at Gunston Theater One in Arlington, VA.
NO CLASSES ON: Tuesday November 21st and Saturday November 25th (Thanksgiving), No class both Saturdays December 23rd and 30th and Tuesday 26th (Christmas), March 31st (Spring Break)

ALL CLASS PAYMENTS ARE DUE TO BE RECEIVED BY PROFESSOR CARMEN DE VICENTE THE FIRST CLASS OF EVERY TWO MONTH SESSION (Sept/Oct, Nov/Dec, Jan/Feb, Mar/Apr, May/Jun).
Payments can be by check or cash.
EVERY TWO MONTHS OR HALF OF THE SEASON (5 months). Multiple classes or same family members receive a 10% discount. There will be no discounts due to missed classes. Any student that misses an entire month of classes during the middle of the season will not eligible for the discount
The success of this activity depends on the dancer's ability and the team spirit/positive attitude of both students and parents. Professor de Vicente reserves the right to decide who will continue to be allowed to attend class. Decisions will be based on the student's ability and the attitude/behavior of both student and parent.
A. Students will be selected for participation in the shows based on their ability to dance. Students will be selected to perform in the castanet ensemble based on their ability to play the castanets. Class attendance does not guarantee student participation in the shows. Professor de Vicente reserves the right to make the final decision as to who participates in each show and in what dance(s). This is to ensure continuous improvement in the quality of the shows.
B. Once students are selected to dance in a show, they must commit to participate in all rehearsals and remain at the theater/presentation until the event has ended or until Professor de Vicente has determined that dancers may leave. Rehearsals will likely occur at times other than regular class hours. Students that cannot commit must let Professor de Vicente know as soon as possible. She will then decide if the student will participate in the show.
C. Costume Deposit - All students will be required to provide a $100 security deposit for performance costumes. Deposits will be returned when costumes have been received by the Costume Coordinator after the show.
D. Costume Rentals - Every student that requires a costume that is the property of Carmen de Vicente Spanish Dance Academy will be required to pay a rental fee to offset the wear and tear of the costume (s). The first costume will be $25 and any additional costume $5.
No parents or family will be allowed in the theater during the week of rehearsal, including dress rehearsal night, unless otherwise specified by Carmen de Vicente.
There will be no "make-up" classes for missed classes except for weather cancellation.
